Building the Ultimate Computer: Edition 7
Time flies…it seems like just yesterday that I was filming Ultimate Computer 1, the very first video I uploaded to youtube. 46 videos and 1,614 subscribers later, the newest Ultimate Computer has arrived! This time, the build focuses on bang-for-your-buck power, effectively providing tons of gaming horsepower, for a manageable price tag of around $2000US. Check out the video below, or go visit the project page at UltimateComputers.net to download the song and more!
By Popular Demand: Overclocking Guide!
Users on this blog, ultimatecomputers.net, and youtube have been begging me to do an overclocking guide for a long time. Initially I was reluctant, because overclocking works differently on almost every system. But, I’ve finally given in, and I put together a two-part TechBits episode on overclocking. Because it would be impossible to cover all possible configurations, this video is not intended to be a tutorial, but rather a guide get people started with overclocking. If you need more help overclocking your specific system, there’s a whole forum for that at UltimateComputers.net! The community (and I) can help you out there ;)
1 commentThis Computer really is Ultimate. Worthy of Edition 6? Hell ya.
Building the Ultimate Computer: Edition 6 is live! This is undoubtedly the most bleeding-edge computer I’ve ever built. It sports a GTX280 Video Card, an Intel Core i7 940 Quad Core CPU, and 12GB of DDR3 Triple Channel RAM! This thing hasn’t even been overclocked yet and it’s is already destroying benchmarks left and right. Check out the embedded youtube video or watch the stellar HD VERSION ON YOUTUBE.
Also, we’ve made the parts list, soundtrack and photo gallery available on the corresponding UltimateComputers.net Project Page.
No commentsUpdates to UC.net and a new TechBits! It’s a Christmas miracle.
So, I’ve been keeping very during my winter break…Zach and I have been working hard on some needed updates for ultimatecomputers.net, and I’m trying to churn out a bunch of videos/get projects done/absolute craziness.
So anyways, UC.net has gotten a few new fun features. First off, we started a Folding@Home team a few months ago, and I wanted people to be able to track out progress right on our website…so I wrote some nice little php scripts, worked a little magic, and churned out this simple Folding Page, that explains the project and queries the Standford University Server for our current standing in the ranks.
Next up, we’ve released the new “Featured Page“. It is the new home of all official UltimateComputers content including projects, reviews, tutorials, and techbits episodes. This allowed us to clear out the old “projects” section. The projects, tutorials, and reviews section on the site will soon become home to user-submission portals, where registered users can share their work with the world.
Lastly (exhausted yet?), I released a new episode of TechBits today! It covers the current cutting-edge processor architectures from AMD and Intel, and discusses what is to come from each CPU manufacturer. Check it out below or watch in HD on youtube.
Force Sensor-Controlled Prosthetics Research – FINAL RESULTS AND DOCUMENTS
It’s been quite a while since I finished up with my Prosthetics Research and the Intel Science Talent Search, so I decided it was time for me to get all of my final materials online. Below I’ve included my final research paper, two posters, a powerpoint, and a short slideshow of the prototype progression that I played at my booth at Intel STS. Just for fun, I’ve put up some select pictures from Intel as well. Please feel free to comment and ask any questions you like.
