A Word Clock Built with Love
I built this “Word Clock” for my girlfriend. A handcrafted walnut frame houses an 8×8″ RGB LED panel that shines though a laser-cut steel stencil with the aid of some 3D printed lattices, a diffuser, and a RTC-equipped Raspberry Pi computer.

I ALWAYS forget to bring my umbrella with me on days when it’s going to rain. So, I built an open source umbrella stand (powered by the new LittleBits CloudBit) that knows the weather and can remind me to take my umbrella with me on my way out the door, if it’s going to rain.
Pi BADGEr ePaper Weather Station
At the 2013 Open Hardware Summit, all attendees were given a hackable, ePaper badge (lovingly called a “BADGEr”) that could be used to display our credentials during the conference, and could be used for experimentation afterwards. I paired mine with a Raspberry Pi to create an auto-updating ePaper weather station that hangs on my wall.
2013 Halloween Costume: Space!
For my Halloween costume this year, I decided to turn myself into outer space – I sewed 12 individually addressable LEDs to my shirt, and programmed them to twinkle like stars. To complete the look, I designed and 3D printed a rocket ship that I could wear on my left arm.
Epic Fails: GPS Pod Tracker Postmortem
I recently moved from NY to San Francisco, and shipped all my stuff. At the last minute, I decided to build a GPS tracker that would update a website with my shipment’s location in real-time. I didn’t work quite as planned, so this post will serve as an analysis of what went wrong.
