MakerBot 3D Printer/Scanner Electronics
I worked for Makerbot Industries to develop all the electronics for the Replicator personal 3D printer and the Digitizer 3D Scanner.
Aracna: An Open Source Quadruped
Aracna is an open source quadruped robot for testing evolutionary gait algorithms. I worked on the electronics and embedded software.
Machine Metabolism
IEEE Robotics & Automation
This robot emulates the functionality of an enzyme on a protein by attaching to a structure and manipulating it while attached.
SudoGlove Hardware Controller
As seen on TV!
The SudoGlove interprets hand gestures to control hardware or software. I’ve used it to drive RC Cars, synthesize music, and more.
Fab@Home 3D Printer
I led electronics development for the the Fab@Home 3D printer. My research focused on developing improved safety systems and a more cohesive system-level design.
Stochastic Modular Assembly
This project focused on designing “Programmable Matter” cubes capable of arranging themselves into a desired object when disturbed stochastically in a fluid.
DEKA Luke Arm
I worked on the 3rd gen “LUKE” Prosthetic Arm at DEKA Research and Development. I contributed to the design of the circuit boards for hand and upper-arm control.
Web-Controlled RoboClaw
The RoboClaw uses a Propeller chip paired with a small server to enable remote claw control via a web interface. A webcam streams to the claw-control webpage.
Nerf Sentry Gun
The Nerf Sentry Gun implements a webcam and image recognition software to identify/track intruders and fire darts at them. It tweets and uploads images.
